Discover Vélhop

As a major player in the Strasbourg Eurometropolis transport sector, Vélhop offers a service that complements public transport, with the aim of enabling residents to discover or rediscover the benefits of cycling.


Practical, ecological and economical, Vélhop offers comfortable, high-performance and secure bicycles with a maintenance service included. With its short- and long-term packages, in-store for personalised advice or self-service 24/7 for greater autonomy, Vélhop meets all your cycling needs.

Every year, more than 40,000 customers use the Vélhop service. Of these, more than 4,400 are private individuals who have opted for an annual rental.

Strasbourg Mobilités Vélo also rents bicycles to companies and associations. In 2022, more than 120 companies trusted Strasbourg Mobilités Vélo to hire and manage their fleets of bicycles.

Strasbourg Mobilités Vélo,
active mobility operator for over 10 years

Strasbourg Mobilités Vélo operates and develops the Vélhop shared bicycle service on behalf of the Eurometropolis of Strasbourg, which includes more than 6,800 bicycles for long-term hire and self-service.

Every year, Strasbourg Mobilités Vélo provides more than 50,000 rentals, offering an efficient and sustainable mobility solution in the Strasbourg conurbation. In 2022, more than 2.189 million rental days were covered by the Vélhop service.

In spring 2023, Strasbourg Mobilités Vélo won the new public service delegation contract to operate the Vélhop service until 2030.

  • La Poste

    Europe’s second-largest postal operator, with total sales of €35.4 billion. La Poste is France’s second largest employer after the State, with more than 250,000 employees, and was an early adopter of electric bicycles. As early as 1893, the company encouraged its postmen and women to use bicycles. In 2008, after a long period of widespread use of internal combustion-powered transport, the group made the switch to soft mobility and equipped its postmen and women with electric bicycles. There are now 25,000 of them.

  • Nextbike

    Nextbike by TIER is the European leader in self-service bicycle hire (mechanical, electrically-assisted and cargo bikes) and a pioneer in the market. Founded in 2004 in Leipzig, Germany, the company is renowned for its reliability, adaptability and secure installations around the world. Today, the company has more than 300 sites in 21 countries. As a member of the TIER Mobility group, Nextbike’s aim is to make a lasting difference to mobility. As an integral part of public transport, the company offers millions of users the ideal means of transport for their daily journeys.

  • Savoir et Compétences

    Savoir et Compétences was set up in Paris in the 1990’s as a social integration enterprise. Its aim was to offer a social and economic approach to disability. For the past 8 years, Savoir et Compétences has been responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of 800 electric bikes belonging to La Poste in their workshop located in Illkirch. To date, the association has around 40 permanent employees and 25 beneficiaries per year.

  • CADR67

    Active throughout the Bas-Rhin since 1975, the Two Wheeler Action Committee (Comité d’Action Deux Roues 67) is an association that promotes cycling, in all its forms, to as many people as possible. Their actions aim to improve conditions for cycling, both technically and in terms of behaviour. They actively campaign to defend the rights of cyclists and to ensure that all road users – pedestrians, cyclists and motorised vehicles – have their rightful place.
